With its musical heritage the town also attracts international musicians during the annual folk music festival and there is also a famous food festival. There is a hospital, shops, supermarkets and restaurants in the pretty town. Aulla, the gateway to Lunigiana, is one the largest towns in the area. Nestled beneath the imposing fortress 'La Brunella', Aulla has become a commercial centre with independent shops, large supermarkets, medical centre, mainline railway station and motorway junction.
